Zentlock — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 18, 2026 Last Updated: June 18, 2026
---
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Zentlock ("the App", "the Software") handles your information. Zentlock is a zero-knowledge password and credential manager for desktop, web, browser extension, and mobile, developed and maintained by the Utilsware Team ("the Developer").
This policy is written in plain language so that every user can clearly understand what data is and is not collected.
---
2. Our Core Commitment
**Zentlock is zero-knowledge. Your passwords, keys, and personal data are encrypted on your device, and the Developer can never read them.**
Your master passphrase, the keys derived from it, and the contents of your vault exist in readable form only in memory on your own device, and only after you unlock the app. They are never sent to the Developer and are never stored anywhere in readable form.
---
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
To be absolutely explicit, the following is never collected by the Developer in any form:
- Your master passphrase, PIN, recovery key, or any encryption key
- The contents of your vault — logins, passwords, cards, identities, notes, SSH keys, or authenticator secrets
- The names, websites, or any plaintext details of your items
- Usage, telemetry, crash, or analytics data
- Your IP address, device identifiers, or location data
The Developer does not operate an account system for Zentlock and does not run a server that stores your vault.
---
4. How Your Data Is Stored
Zentlock keeps your vault as encrypted data on your own device. Encryption happens locally before anything is written or synced:
- On-device encryption. Every item is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The keys
- Optional Google Drive sync. If you choose to connect Google Drive, Zentlock
- No plaintext leaves your device. Your master passphrase, master key, vault
---
5. Sharing Between People
When you share a collection with someone, Zentlock encrypts it end-to-end so that only the intended recipient can decrypt it on their own device. The Developer cannot read shared content. Shared data remains encrypted in storage and in transit, and you can revoke access at any time.
---
6. Network Access
Zentlock works offline. It connects to the network only to sync your encrypted vault to your own Google Drive when you enable that feature, and to deliver encrypted sharing data to the people you choose to share with. No usage data or telemetry is transmitted as part of these operations.
---
7. Analytics
Zentlock collects zero analytics. No usage data, feature interaction data, or telemetry of any kind is collected or transmitted. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated with a new Effective Date before any such change takes effect, and any analytics would be anonymous and opt-out.
---
8. Data Sharing and Sale
The Developer does not share, sell, rent, or trade any user data with any third party — because no user data is collected in the first place.
---
9. Security
Zentlock uses widely trusted, industry-standard cryptography: AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for your data, the memory-hard Argon2id algorithm for deriving keys from your passphrase, and public-key encryption for sharing. Because your data is encrypted on your device and the Developer holds no keys, an exposed storage copy reveals only unreadable ciphertext.
---
10. Your Rights and Control
You hold the only keys to your vault. You can export your data at any time, lock or sign out, de-enroll a device to erase its local copy, disconnect Google Drive sync, and delete the App and its local data whenever you choose. Because the Developer holds no personal data, there is no server-side data to access, correct, or delete.
---
11. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be published at the same location with an updated Effective Date at the top of the document. Users are encouraged to review this document periodically.
